Before anything is structured, there is a direct conversation with Christopher Baker, at no cost and with no commitment. It is where the situation is understood, where it becomes clear whether and how the consultancy can help, and where the right shape for the work is decided. Some matters are resolved in that conversation alone. Most lead to one of the structures below.
A continuing relationship with direct, priority access, including after hours, in-person presence as situations warrant, and the continuity of one expert who knows the context before a situation escalates rather than after. The most continuous structure the consultancy offers.
When it fitsA matter that unfolds over time, or where having independent judgment on call is itself the point.
A focused engagement around a specific situation, transition, or decision, with a defined scope and a clear beginning and end. In-person for substantive working sessions, with remote access between. Available without a retainer commitment.
When it fitsA discrete matter that calls for depth, but not an ongoing relationship.
Counsel for a specific question or moment, with the same expert available again when the next one arises and no standing retainer in between. A one-time read, or occasional consultations as a situation develops. Often the first formal step after the initial conversation, and frequently where a retained relationship begins.
When it fitsA single question now, with the option to return as the situation evolves.
Every engagement is retained directly and paid by the retaining party, entirely outside insurance. Where a matter calls for both advisory and direct therapeutic work, the two are held as separate engagements on the same situation, never run at once.
