Organized by who is asking, in the same order as the homepage. If your question is not here, call 401-601-5080 and ask me directly.
I assess a situation involving behavioral health, substance use, or family dynamics, tell you plainly what I believe should happen and why, and stay involved as decisions are made and carried out. The decisions can concern family disagreement, boundaries, finances, housing, independence, treatment, or a transition.
No. Baker Private Advisory provides consultation and advisory services, not clinical treatment. I do not provide psychotherapy, prescribe medication, or diagnose for treatment purposes, and no one becomes my patient through an engagement. Treatment is provided by the client's own licensed providers.
The introductory call is complimentary. Further work begins under a formal engagement agreement that sets out fees before the work starts, and fees depend on what the situation requires. Engagements are private-pay, are not billed to insurance, and are paid only by the client.
Yes. The family can retain me directly, and much of the work is with the family itself: understanding what is happening, agreeing on boundaries and next steps, and deciding whether a structured intervention is appropriate. The family member's participation in anything that follows is voluntary.
Yes, when that is what the situation requires. I research programs, speak with admissions and clinical staff, evaluate whether a program fits the person, and help the family decide. The firm accepts nothing from any program for a client's admission.
If someone is in immediate danger, call 911 or 988; this is not an emergency service. For situations that are escalating but not emergencies, Private Family Response is built for prompt involvement. Timing depends on the circumstances and availability, and is confirmed in the first call.
When behavioral health or substance use is affecting a matter you are responsible for and you need someone to assess the situation, interpret treatment information, or guide a family that is struggling to decide. I can be retained by the client, or by counsel on the client's behalf.
No. I do not conduct forensic evaluations, render capacity or competency determinations, or serve as an expert witness. I provide clinical information and an independent perspective to inform the decisions you are responsible for.
Yes. I work alongside your role, not in place of it. No referral fees change hands in either direction, and I communicate back to you only with the client's authorization.
I review the beneficiary's circumstances, treatment history, and current functioning, and explain what they mean in practical terms for the decision in front of you. The fiduciary authority, and the decision, remain yours.
When documentation matters, a written advisory memorandum stating what was reviewed, what it indicates, and the basis for my recommendation. Fiduciaries find this useful when a decision must be defensible later.
Yes. Information is shared with providers, attorneys, or family members only when the client authorizes it. Because this is an advisory relationship rather than a treatment relationship, confidentiality rests on the engagement agreement and my professional obligations rather than on treatment privilege, and mandated-reporting and imminent-risk obligations still apply.
Yes. The family retains me directly, and I work with your office on the matters the family authorizes. I handle every engagement personally, with no intake team or internal layers.
Yes. I travel to clients to meet the family, take part in meetings, facilitate an intervention, or accompany someone to a program. In-person work is arranged according to the engagement and applicable professional requirements.
Yes. Baker Private Advisory serves clients in many states. The work is advisory and consultative rather than clinical treatment, and engagements are structured with that distinction in mind. Because the rules governing professional services vary by state, the scope of each engagement is confirmed at the outset, and any clinical care is provided by licensed providers in the client's own state.
When behavioral health or substance use is complicating a situation you are involved in, and the family needs someone to assess it, evaluate the options, or stay involved in ways your own role does not allow.
Educational consultants work primarily in placement, and the relationship typically ends once a placement is made. Baker Private Advisory is an independent advisory firm led by a licensed clinician. The work covers assessment, guidance on whether treatment is warranted and at what level, family guidance, work alongside the treating clinicians, and continued involvement through transitions. Placement is one possible part of the work rather than its purpose.
None. Baker Private Advisory neither pays nor accepts referral fees, and it has no financial relationship with any program or provider.
