← Urgent & Specialized Engagements
A family meeting I prepare and lead, held to ask a family member to accept treatment. I prepare each participant beforehand, facilitate the meeting, determine next steps with the family, and support the admission or the alternative plan that follows. It can be engaged on its own or as part of a broader engagement.
I travel to the family. Preparation is done in person with each participant in the days before the meeting.
When to Engage ItWhen a family member will not accept treatment and the family wants to ask together, with preparation behind it. Before recommending an intervention, I assess whether it is the right step. When it is not, I say so and recommend what is.
What This Is NotNot treatment, diagnosis, or psychotherapy, and no clinical relationship is formed with the family member. Not an ambush and not coercion: the meeting is planned openly with the family, and participation is voluntary at every step.
